Ernst was born in Switzerland and emigrated first to Australia and then to the United States of America. Ernst earned an AA in Business Administrattion with a minor in Electronics. Ernst started working in the food industry, then the steel industry and then the trucking industry. In the early 80's Ernst started his own machinery repair business. Eventually he Incorporated and aquired a machine manufacturing business. The business had left California but Ernst brought it back. In 2001 Ernst merged with another California manufacturing business and became it's Vice President heading the Production Departmant.
